 #FreeNnamdiKanuNow!!!!

End the Repression – Justice for #FreeNnamdiKanu Protesters and End SARS Victims!

On this solemn day, the anniversary of the #EndSARS movement and the Lekki Toll Gate massacre, the Workers and Youth Solidarity Network (WYSN) stands in firm solidarity with all Nigerians still crying for justice — for the lives lost, for the rights trampled, and for the dreams crushed by a violent and unaccountable system.

We condemn, in the strongest terms, the latest wave of police repression against peaceful protesters demanding the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It is unacceptable that, five years after the state-sponsored killing of unarmed protesters in 2020, the Nigerian Police Force continues to brutalize citizens for exercising their constitutional right to protest. Among those attacked today at the peacfull protest are Omoyel Sowore, Rock Yusuf and other activist.

Those who marched for End SARS did so to demand an end to police brutality and state violence. Today, those same demands remain urgent. The continued harassment, arrest, and detention of #FreeNnamdiKanu protesters shows that the system has learned nothing — and changed nothing.

The right to protest is a constitutional and democratic right – not a crime. We reject in full the criminalization of dissent and the use of state power to silence legitimate political expression. The continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu without a fair and conclusive trial only deepens distrust in Nigeria’s justice system and threatens national cohesion.

We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all those arrested during the #FreeNnamdiKanu protests. We also call for an end to all forms of intimidation and surveillance targeting activists, youth organisers, and civil society voices across the country.

Instead of repression, the Nigerian government must address the root causes of discontent – injustice, marginalisation, and the growing democratic deficit in our political system. Silencing voices will not resolve Nigeria’s crises; only genuine dialogue, respect for rights, and social justice will.

The WYSN stands in full solidarity with all oppressed people fighting for freedom, justice, and self-determination. We call on trade unions, students, progressive organisations, and international allies to speak out and resist the clampdown on civic space in Nigeria.

We demand:

  • #FreeNnamdiKanuNow
  • Immediate and unconditional release of all arrested #FreeNnamdiKanu protesters.
  • An end to all forms of police and military repression against peaceful demonstrators.
  • Justice and accountability for all victims of the End SARS massacre and all acts of state violence.
  • Respect for democratic rights, including freedom of expression, association, and protest.

We have not forgotten. We have not healed. We are still crying for justice.

To the Nigerian ruling class: You cannot kill the truth. You cannot arrest freedom. You cannot silence a generation that has risen to demand dignity, justice, and liberation.

We call on Nigeria Police officer to disobey order by the Inspector General of Police. IGP is a member of ruling class and rank and file police officer are member of the working class.

The struggle continues!

Justice for End SARS victims!
Free all #FreeNnamdiKanu protesters!
Stop police repression now!
